What the discussion is about

This panel examines whether traditional global IP strategies can withstand an era of economic fragmentation, regional protectionism and technological sovereignty, as governments and companies seek greater domestic control over AI, cloud computing, green energy and life sciences. It will explore how multinationals are adapting to regional IP regimes, whether corporate IP teams are reorganising around geographies or technologies, and which models of cross-border collaboration, open innovation and IP-backed financing can still succeed amid geopolitical volatility. Through live polling, “future shock” scenarios, visual case studies, moderated debate and audience Q&A, the session will consider whether predictive IP strategy is becoming a data-driven discipline or a high-stakes gamble, linking these questions to broader trends in global patent enforcement and the OxFora 14th IP & Competition Forum’s focus on international litigation and coordination between courts.
